Signing ceremony of MoUs of 7 HICDPs in Education, Health and Agriculture Sectors in Nepal to be implemented under grant assistance from The Government of India

        The Embassy of India, Kathmandu, Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, Government of Nepal and Project Implementing Agencies of Government of Nepal, today signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for undertaking 7 High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDPs) in Nepal under grant assistance from the Government of India in sectors such as Education, Health and Agriculture with a total estimated cost of NRs. 473 million.

2.     These seven projects, namely: (i) Construction of Cold Store, Madhyabindu Municipality Ward No. 2, Nawalpur District, Gandaki Province,  (ii) Construction of Cold Store, Laligurans Municipality Ward No. 2, Tehrathum District, Koshi Province, (iii) Construction of School Building, Hostel and Canteen of Janabal Secondary School, Gharapjhong Rural Municipality-2, Mustang District, Gandaki Province, (iv) Construction of Shree Kalika Primary School Building, Gauriganga Municipality Ward No. 11, Kailali District, Sudurpaschim Province, (v) Construction of Paroha Birthing Centre, Paroha Municipality - 4, Rautahat District,  Madhesh Province, (vi) Construction of School Building of Shree Kasturi Secondary School, Tripurasundari Municipality-7, Dolpa District, Karnali Province, and (vii) Construction of School Building of Shree Jana Kalyan Secondary School,  Khajura Rural Municipality Ward No. 4, Banke District, Lumbini Province, shall be implemented through local authorities and institutions of the Government of Nepal including Municipalities and Rural Municipalities.

3.    Since 2003, Government of India has undertaken 598 HICDPs in Nepal, including the 7 projects for which MoUs were signed today. Out of these, 506 projects have been completed in the areas of health, education, agriculture, drinking water, connectivity, sanitation and creation of public utilities. These projects are spread across all 7 provinces of Nepal. The remaining projects are at various stages of implementation. 

4.    As close neighbours, India and Nepal are engaged in wide-ranging and multi-sectoral cooperation. The implementation of HICDPs reflects the continued support of the Government of India in strengthening the efforts of the Government of Nepal in promoting growth and development, apart from augmenting infrastructure in priority sectors.
