I am studying in class V, can I apply to get admission in class VI in Army Public Schools under Army Public School Scholarship Scheme?
The academic session of Army Public Schools in India starts in April each year thus all the procedural requirements from selection of the candidates to their admission require to be completed latest by last week of March each year. For these procedural requirement final mark-sheet of preceding year i.e. mark- sheet of Class V for admission in Class VI is required to be submitted with application form. Since appearing candidates are yet to take their final exam, they would not be in position to submit their final mark-sheet at the time of submission of application form. Therefore, appearing student are not eligible for Army Public School Scholarship Scheme.
Whether appearing students can apply for the scholarship schemes of Embassy of India?
Appearing students can apply for only those scholarship schemes in which it is specifically mentioned that they may apply but will be considered for selection for the scholarship scheme only on submission of final mark-sheet of qualifying examination in given time.
Final mark-sheet of preceding year is required for all the scholarship schemes either at the time of submission of application form or before initiation of process of selection of the candidates for the scholarship schemes. Therefore, only those candidates who can submit their final mark-sheets are eligible for scholarship schemes.
Is there any criteria with respect to financial condition of the applicant or his/her parent for availing the scholarship schemes?
Financial condition of parents of applicants is eligibility criteria in some of the scholarship schemes. For detailed information, may kindly refer notification/advertisement of the scholarship scheme.
Do I need to pay any fees/deposit if I got selected for any scholarship scheme?
Government of India pays the tuition fee etc. for most of the scholarship schemes. The terms and conditions of particular scholarship scheme or guidelines of implementing agencies such as ICCR & EdCIL that specifies the amount paid by the Government of India in respect of fees etc. of the scholarship students. In Mahatma Gandhi and Golden Jubilee Scholarship Schemes, Government of India pays a specified amount to the selected students to enable them to bear the cost of their studies. But for pursuing MBBS/BDS/B.Tech/B.Pharma/B.Arch or diploma in Engineering or pharmaceuticals etc. in India under Self Financing Scheme, the selected candidates need to pay their fees and other deposits as required by the Institute.
Is medical fitness certificate mandatory for applying for the scholarship schemes?
Medical Fitness is one of the eligibility criteria to avail scholarship facility of the Embassy. For a few schemes such as Army Public School Scholarship Scheme, Self Finance Scheme etc., submission of medical fitness certificate is mandatory. The notification/ advertisement publish by the Embassy at the time of opening the scheme may be referred to know about requirement of medical fitness certificate for that particular scheme.
Is there any provision of age relaxation (minimum and maximum) for those who are just one or two months less or more than the specified age?
No, the candidate must meet the age criteria for being eligible for any scholarship scheme. There is no provision of relaxation in minimum or maximum age criteria for awarding scholarships to the applicants.
Is there any qualifying or competitive exam to be eligible or to qualify for the scholarship schemes of Embassy of India?
Yes, as of now, for a few scholarship schemes such as Army Public School Scholarship Scheme and COMPEX scholarship scheme, the applicants have to appear and qualify the qualifying /competitive exam organized by the Embassy
of India Kathmandu. For some scholarship schemes such as Self Financing Scheme, applicants are required to qualify NEET exam with 50 percentile for MBBS & BDS and Aptitude Test as prescribed by the Council of Architecture for B. Architecture. The complete details of qualifying of competitive exam may be seen in the latest Embassy Notice of the Scholarship Scheme.
How would I come to know about my selection for the scholarship scheme I have applied for?
Embassy informs the selected candidates about their selection and further procedural requirement through mail. Kindly check your mail mentioned in application form for the updates. Embassy also notifies dates of declaration of results in what's new tab in the Education wing column of Embassy's website www.indembkathmandu.gov.in.
Is it mandatory to visit the Embassy of India to collect Provisional Admission Offer Letter (PAOL). Do parents/guardian also required to accompany the applicant?
Yes, selected candidates along with their parents/guardians (duly authorized by parents as guardian) are required to visit the Embassy to collect PAOL. If the candidate is coming with guardian and not parent, the guardian must have documentary proof to show that he/she is the guardian of the candidate.
Do I need to carry original documents while submitting hard copy of application form and other documents to Education wing?
For Self Financing Scheme (MBBS/BDS/B.Tech/BE/B.Arch and Diploma etc.), the applicant requires to carry the original documents while submitting hard copy. For other schemes, it is mandatory to carry the documents at the time of issuance of Provision Admission Offer Letter (PAOL) by the Embassy. However, applicants are advised to kindly check the latest notification of the scheme to get the updated information.
Does the presence of applicant mandatory for submission of application form or it can be submitted by any one?
It is always preferable that the application form of scholarship schemes is submitted by the applicant himself/herself. If the applicant is unable to submit the application form, it may be submitted by any other one on the sole responsibility of applicant. But for Self Financing Scheme (MBBS/BDS/B.Tech/BE/B.Arch and Diploma etc.) the presence of applicant with parent / guardian is mandatory for submission of application form.
Is NEET score mandatory to apply for Medical courses under Self Finance Scheme (SFS)? If yes, please guide me to apply for NEET?
As per eligibility criteria of Self Financing Scheme (MBBS/BDS), it is mandatory for applicants to score minimum 50 percentile in NEET. The process and other information for applying for NEET may be checked through the link “www.nta.nic.in”
Are Nepali Citizens eligible for Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children?
No. Scholarship Programme for Diaspora Children (SPDC) is the scholarship scheme for children of Indian (NRI, OCI, PIO) residing abroad.
Do I need to submit hard copy of application form and other documents for all scholarship schemes (offline/online) of Embassy of India? If yes, how many sets of application are required to be submitted and whether photo and signature may be photocopied or required in original?
The hard copy of application form is not required to be submitted in some scholarship schemes. In general three sets of application form with requisite documents are required to be submitted in the Embassy/Consulate. In some schemes, four sets of application form with documents are required. Photo and signature in all the sets are required in original. The detailed information regarding requirement of submission of hard copy of application and other documents may be seen from Embassy Notice issued at the time of opening of scheme.
Do I need to submit Equivalence Certificate issued by AIU? If yes, kindly share the procedure of obtaining the same?
The notification of scholarship scheme specifies the requirement of Equivalence Certificate issued by AIU. The procedure of obtaining the certificate may be check through the link “https://www.aiu.ac.in”
What is the procedure to receive scholarship amount of Mahatma Gandhi and Golden Jubilee scholarship schemes? May I collect it in cash from the Embassy?
Scholarship awardees of Mahatma Gandhi and Golden Jubilee scheme receive scholarship amount in their bank accounts that are opened by the Embassy at the time of awarding first installment of the scholarship to the candidates. The details of the bank account are shared with the selected candidates via mail with complete instructions of operating the account.
In case of erroneous entry (name, parents name, address, contact number, mail ID, name of Institute etc.) at the time of submission of application for scholarship scheme, can it be amended after final submission or after selection?
No changes in the applications are allowed after final submission of the form. Applicants are therefore advised to check the entries thoroughly before final submission.
Is passport mandatory for applying for scholarship schemes of Embassy of India?
Yes, since most of the scholarship schemes are global, the system settings make the submission of passport mandatory. Only for the scholarship schemes Mahatma Gandhi and Golden Jubilee, the passport is not required as these schemes are for students who are enrolled and studying in institutes/colleges of Nepal.
I have already enrolled in an Indian Institute pending the result of scholarship scheme of Indian Embassy I have applied for. I have been selected for the scholarship scheme but the institute allotted to me is different from the institute I am presently studying in. Since my present institute is also among the choices, I have submitted in the application form, can my scholarship may be transferred to the institute where I am already enrolled.
No. Change of Institute/College is not allowed under scholarship schemes.
Are the scholarship awardees of Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme who could not pass in class XI receive the second installment of scholarship amount ?
No, for receiving next installment of the scholarship, it is mandatory for the selected candidate to submit the certificate issued by the Principal/Head of Institute that he/she has passed class XI and is studying in class XII.
