Visit of NDC Delegation from India to Nepal (01 Sep 2024 – 05 Sep 2024)
A delegation from the 64th course of the National Defence College (NDC), India comprising 21 senior officers from civil services and Defence Forces of India and friendly foreign countries Australia, Bhutan, Japan, Kazakhstan, Oman and USA visited Nepal for five days from 01 Sep 2024 to 05 Sep 2024.
The visiting delegation, led by Rear Admiral Sandeep S Sandhu, NM, Senior Directing Staff (Indian Navy), paid a courtesy call on the Rt. Hon’ble Prime Minister of Nepal Mr. K P Sharma Oli, Hon’ble Minister for Home Affairs Mr. Ramesh Lekhak , Hon’ble Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba and Hon’ble Minister for Defence Mr. Manbir Rai. The delegation also called on the Officiating Chief of Army Staff, Nepali Army, Lt Gen Ashok Raj Sigdel and discussed matters pertaining to bilateral military cooperation. The team visited Nepali Army Headquarters at Kathmandu and Western Division Headquarters and held interactions on various aspects to promote defence cooperation.
The National Defence College of India is one of the premier training institutions in the world for senior Defence and Civil Service officers on the wider aspects of higher national direction and strategy. The course is also attended by officers from armed forces of friendly foreign countries. At present, four officers of the Nepali Army are undergoing the prestigious course while 15 serving Nepali Army officers, including outgoing COAS of Nepali Army, Gen Prabhu Ram Sharma are the illustrious alumni of the revered institution. Officers of the Nepali Army who have graduated from the National Defence College, New Delhi have gone on to tenant vital appointments in their respective fields of expertise.
